Margarets, Cambridge

Daddy joined me for a ceremony in Cambridge, then we booked lunch afterwards at Margaret’s, a restaurant from the same chef at restaurant 22. Compared with the latter, Margaret’s had a much simpler menu.

We needed to pick a main and a dessert and shared the rest. The shared starting bread, focaccia, was very nice. The dips were (1) olive and vinegar, (2) aubergine and chilli and (3) nut. We both liked the aubergine and chilli dip a lot, which added a bit of strong flavour over the plain bread. They should have given us more bread :).

I picked pork loin while daddy got monkfish. The pork loin still had some fat which I actually liked. It was all very juicy with a rich flavour. The sauce was as expected while the red chilli dip/sauce and the green dip which I forgot the flavour both balanced very well with the rich pork loin by providing some sharp tastes. The wild asparagus did not do much in the plate but it was a nice touch.

We got some potatoes, broccoli, and salad as sides. I would say they were simple and well cooked. The Caesar salad was too overfilled to eat. The broccoli was fresh with very firm texture.

This was a simple lunch. I think it took too long for three courses, however, they were all nice dishes. We got a window seat but I would recommend a regular table.
